Dallas (2017-04-20)

As we are not that far from Dallas, about 100 km, we leave after breakfast for a tour in the city. We do the visit of the 6 th Floor Museum. The organization of this museum is not so good, the lines to buy tickets and after to wait to get to the 6 th floor (tickets have an entry time) are confusing. Once you pass that stage, it gets much better. This part of downtown is interesting with old buildings and parks. Unlike California, water does not seem to be an issue as many of the big buildings have a fountain in front of it. We had a very good bbq lunch at Pecan Lodge. It is east of downtown on Main, an area that is, like in many cit...

Palo Duro Canyon – Lake Tawakoni (2017-04-19)

It is our longest drive today with a bit more than 700 km. Not much time for photos except a quick stop to take pictures of the flowers that are all the way along the freeway. It is really beautiful. The landscape reminds us of the road between Saskatoon and North Battleford (SK): wheat fields, extensive pasture, cattle, rolling hills.

Santa Fe – Palo Duro Canyon (2017-04-18)

A relatively long drive today and we lost 1h going across to Texas. It was nice to have a last look at the Santa Fe style houses leaving the east suburb of Santa Fe. We drove south to reconnect to Hwy 40 and kept going! The landscape is not so exciting, desert conditions in a plain setting and a road prairie style… We could see a dog for 3 days if it decided to leave home! What a view as we enter the park and stop at the visitor center! The visitor centre is also very nice, with displays on the geological formation of the canyon, fossils, ...

Santa Fe (2017-04-17)

We visited the Virginia O’Keeffe Museum this afternoon. It was very interesting to learn more about this artist that got most of her inspiration from the New Mexico landscape. We could see some of her earlier work but unfortunately not so many of her flower paintings. The museum is a fair size but not enough to show all the collection they have. Many of her important pieces are in private or other museum collections.

Homol’ovi I Ruins State Park – Santa Fe (2017-04-16)

Happy Easter! We were back on the road a bit after 8 h 30, close to 350 miles to do today to reach Santa Fe. We did a lunch stop at a MacDonald… My favorite place to update the blog (and I did 2 posting)! I now have had each of their salads and used extensively their free internet. Claude has been a bit less healthy and gets a bit tired of waiting for the pictures to upload! I hope you find it worth! Again today the landscape has been wonderful at time and as we were Sunday, the traffic was not bad until later in the day. We did a stop in the old Albuquerque, I have already put some pictures on FB.
